Tracy Hamilton studied Business Studies at the University of Ulster. She is a descendent of the famous Mackie’s engineering family and has a natural business acumen. She has recently been appointed as a Visiting Professor at the University.
Tracy established Mash Direct with her husband Martin, after they decided to diversify their farm business by adding value to their wholesale farming business. Twelve years on, Mash Direct is a flourishing farming and food production enterprise which is now the market leader in quality, convenient vegetable and potato dishes, and is still very much family owned and run.
Tracy majors on the marketing of the Company and control of all administrative aspects. She has been instrumental in turning Mash Direct into a household name and Brand Leader throughout the UK and Ireland with an enviable portfolio of customers.
As the first woman to sit on the Board of NIFDA and also a Board member of Food NI, Tracy is passionate about promoting local food.
Amongst her many interests, Tracy is involved in the gardening world and manages their family home, a Historic Demesne on the shores of Strangford Lough. She sits on the Committees of the Northern Ireland Heritage Gardens and the Irish Tree Society. She is also a very active volunteer on the Mencap Special Events Committee and has been organising high profile events for Mencap since 1986.
Tracy won Oustanding Business Woman of the Year at the Women in Business Awards in 2015. She was the only non-entry category and selected solely on judges’ discretion for her business acumen, entrepreneurial vision and inspirational work ethic.
Tracy has also previously won SME Director of the Year at the Northern Ireland Director of the Year awards in 2013 and was shortlisted for the Mid-Market Director of the Year in the UK Finals 2014.
